Welcome to Columbia United FC
Thank you for allowing us to host your Tournament News and Results
Once again, in 2008, as South Carolina’s largest centrally-located youth soccer club serving high school soccer players from across the state, we are pleased to present the schedules and results of this year’s 32- team Taco Bell Viking Cup Tournament for girls and the 12-team Lake Murray Challenge Tournament for boys, as well as the Irmo Preseason JV Tournament, as a service to all soccer lovers.

As you follow your favorite high school teams through the brackets each weekend, we invite you to surf through our website and learn more about our club. At Columbia United FC, we are serious about soccer and serious about serving our soccer community.

Maintaining our higher standards, at tryouts in May 2008…..
  • Head coaches of our Elite level teams at Columbia United must possess at least a USSF A or B license or the NSCAA or European equivalent, and head coaches of our Palmetto and Crescent level teams must possess at least a USSF C or D license or the NSCAA or European equivalent.
  • All U13 to U16 Select teams will be limited to a preferred 15-player roster size with a 16-player maximum, which means more touches for more players in more matches.
  • Players selected to our U16, U17 and U18 Elite teams will be required to commit to play in one of three or more post-season College Showcase recruiting tournaments.
  • Elite teams will continue to compete in Region III Premier League play (currently qualified are the 91 Girls Elite, 90 Girls Elite and 91 Boys Elite).
  • All Elite, Palmetto and Crescent level teams will continue to compete at the highest level commensurate with their ability throughout the season and throughout state cup play.
Following up on our successes of 2006-2007, our club’s play resulted in one Region III Premier League Championship, one SCYSA Challenge Cup State Championship, two SCYSA Challenge Cup Finalists, two SCYSA Challenge Cup Third Place finishes, one SCYSA Challenge Cup Fourth Place finish and two SCYSA Presidents Medal State Championships!

Columbia United is committed to the development of serious soccer players who want to play in and beyond the traditional soccer club programs, whether it is to make their junior varsity and varsity high school teams or continue on to play in college. Our fall Select and Recreational programs are sought out each year by area soccer players whose high school varsity and junior varsity coaches see the value in training and playing club soccer in the fall as a pre-season training ground for the spring high school season.  While the Select program most definitely proves to be the most serious training ground for that purpose, many players opt instead to play in our 1,800 plus player Recreational league.

This is just another testament to the diverse opportunities Columbia United FC offers in its effort to help develop and train the high school players of today and tomorrow. From AAAA varsity players to SCISA junior varsity players, we are fully committed to support each and every player and cheer with them as they succeed, just as we have for our most serious and committed elite Select players.

We continue to follow many of our successful alumni players who have played in past seasons at or have just recently committed to play collegiately for such institutions as Brown UniversityFurman University, University of South Carolina, University of South Carolina UpstateCoastal Carolina University, University of Alabama, College of Charleston, Presbyterian College, Francis Marion UniversityLander University, Coker College, Wofford College, Newberry College, Erskine College, Pffeifer University, Winthrop University, Roanoke College, Western Carolina University, Brenau University, United States Military Academy (West Point), Columbia College and others.

We are for real. We are here to stay. We are here to serve you.

We hope you enjoy visiting our website and wish you and yours all the best this 2008 high school season and beyond!  Please contact either one of Directors of Soccer, Tripp Miller (803) 446-2750 or Phil Savitz (803) 629-8370, if you are interested in joining our club.
